The Paro Dance Festival

Posted 1 year ago by pedro in response to musketeer's question: Who are the ones dancing in this celebration held in Paro? Trained bands or volunteers everywhere? (give a different answer) .

Both monks and laymen, people inhabiting the valley come to the Paro Dzong for making the misfortune vanish and bring blessings to all onlookers. This happens for 5 days in late March or April, when participants put on their traditional woven robes. Dancers sometimes wear masks and vividly coloured costumes, taking the appearance of deities, demons, animals and reinforcing the legends of Himalayan Buddhism.
